Event Details
Did you know that most of the transfer stations in Warren County now accept e-waste free of charge? For this reason, we will not be holding our annual e-waste recycling event.
But don't worry! You can still take sustainable action this Earth Day by donating your old computer to Elfun Computer Rehab to be rehabilitated and donated to schools, museums, community centers and other not-for-profit organizations in our area. This collection event will take place on April 22, 2026 in the Christine L. McDonald Community Room. How it works:
We will be accepting donations from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until all collection bins are full. The following items will be accepted:
Computers
Laptops
Notebook Computers
Tablets
iPads
Surfaces
Towers
Desktops
Laptop bags
CD & DVD Drives
Keyboards and Mice
Please note: When donating Samsung phones or Apple computers, iPhones and iPads, please ensure the devices have been Activation Unlocked.
If a device is Activation Locked, it cannot be reused. It can only be recycled.

All other electronics can be taken to your local transfer station.
Sourcing and Salvage: The organization accepts donations from corporations and individuals.
Data Security: This is the most critical step. Using professional-grade “wiping” software, the volunteers ensure that every byte of previous data is destroyed, meeting high security standards that allow corporate donors to give with peace of mind.
The Rebuild: Volunteers disassemble machines, test power supplies, upgrade memory, and install functional hard drives. If a machine is truly “dead,” it is stripped for parts; the remaining carcasses are then sent to certified recyclers to ensure no heavy metals enter the groundwater.
Software Integration: Through partnerships (such as the Microsoft Registered Refurbisher program), we install legitimate operating systems and essential educational software, ensuring the recipient gets a “turn-key” tool, not a project.
