Purpose of Meeting

In this workshop, attendees will learn about seed-starting technique called Winter Sowing. The workshop will include a demonstration and printed instructions on how to make mini greenhouses out of recycled containers such as milk jugs, plastic bins, cat litter jugs, etc. They will also learn how to start seeds that require cold stratification in those DIY greenhouses or in seed trays, all to be left outside during the cold months until seeds germinate. This method has been gaining increased popularity for the past 30 years for its simplicity and effectiveness in producing cold-hardy seedlings. Attendees will take home their own Winter Sowing container, complete with pre-moistened soil and New York native seeds.
